Hey you guys remember how in the first Captain America trailer there was an edit that made it look like Dominic Cooper was totally checking out Chris Evans new buff body, with the whole slo-mo sunglasses-lowering? Well in the brand new trailer they took it even further! We now have Dominic Cooper pawing at Chris Evans abs.

I mean... what do I say to that? It might be foggy and wet outside today weather-wise but inside my head this is one of the most beautiful days I've ever seen.

--- Here & Back Again - EW has our first look at The Hobbit, y'all! Three pictures, including Tim I mean Martin Freeman as Young Bilbo. I wish some friendly lady hobbit down the way was being played by Lucy Davis, I must say. Tim and Dawn forever!

--- And speaking of Office-flavored things, as well as small-sized folk, the teaser trailer for Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant's new BBC2 series called Life's Too Short - about the "life" of Warwick Davis, famed little person - can be seen over at Twitch! The show's only begun filming and won't air til next year, but this tide us over til then I suppose.

--- Roll In The Hay - I just want to take this opportunity to thank Entertainment Weekly with all my "heart" for using this week's trilogy of covers to gift me with the fantasy of Joe Manganiello as a rugged, dumb farmhand wearing nothing but loose overalls. This will come in handy several times in the future, of this I have no doubt.

--- Crazy States - Glenn's review of Ken Russell's Altered States over at Stale Popcorn is quite possibly the most spot-on, "Yup, that about sums it all up!" review of Altered States ever written. God I love that movie.

--- Bush Whackers - BD has a few more details on the third flick from Oren Peli, director of Paranormal Activity, which is about Nature getting its revenge in the wake of a radioactive disaster. Or something. Sounds kind Long Weekend-y to me?

--- The Owls Are Not What They Seem - If you heard about that JK Rowling website Pottermore the other day and are curious still what the hell it is, watch this video at PopWrap where Rowling comes clean. Sounds fun, says the nerd!

--- New Statham Joint - A trailer for a Jason Statham movie without a shot of a shirtless Jason Statham in it is like a unicorn with its legs sawed off bleating for the bullet to end its pathetic life. Just sad! That said, in the trailer for his latest movie called Killer Elite (so 1994 straight-to-video) that murky underwater shot seen there to the left could be Jason, I suppose, the trailer implies it to be him, so we'll give it a pass until we inevitably watch the movie while folding laundry one future Saturday afternoon and find out if so. But what we will never forgive is the fact that Statham and Clive Owen are in a movie together and it's not a love story full of sweaty torrid liaisons.

--- Stone's Pride - Rumors abound that Emma Stone might be taking the lead in Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, which for a long while was a role that lay in Natalie Portman's delicate fingertips. I like it, but then I like the idea of Emma Stone taking any part. Every part! (Well except Mrs. Andrew Garfield. Lay off, lady! He's mine!)

Word of the Day: Fassystache

As in, "My goodness how I want to graze my upper lip against Michael Fassbender's mustache - aka The Fassystache - every time they show it in this, the first trailer for David Cronenberg's A Dangerous Method, a film which costars Viggo Mortensen and Keira Knightley and Vincent Cassel." Make sure to use "Fassystache" in a sentence today - you will not be disappointed. Trust me. Anyway I took several billion screen-caps from the trailer for Fassy looking anguished and Keira baring her underbite if you wanna check them out after the jump. Hit it.

We saw a clip from Almodovar's The Skin I Live In back in May that creeped me out pretty ferociously, and now we've got a teaser trailer to do that double-time. The film's out in the US in November. (via)

Leslie's Papa Makes Some Truth

Just a couple of weeks ago we had a wee bit of news regarding a sequel to 2006's wonderful meta-horror flick Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon - namely that everybody behind that film is keen to get a sequel going (actually some kind of prequel, apparently) and there's a Facebook page up and running devoted to the cause. The page has actually been pretty active, I see updates coming from it all the time, so fingers crossed!

But this doesn't really have to do with Leslie - rather it has to do with Leslie's director, Scott Glosserman. He's only had one film come out since Leslie, and that was a non-horror documentary about Wikipedia called Truth in Numbers, but that changes tomorrow night apparently, when an original horror film by him airs on MTV! "MTV treats viewers to extreme suspense in its upcoming original TV movie "The Truth Below," premiering Thursday, June 16th at 10pm ET/PT.

In "The Truth Below," a Spring Break snowboarding vacation becomes a terrifying journey for college friends. Their road trip home from the mountain soon turns deadly when a freak accident forces them off the road and buries their car under an avalanche. Trapped with no choice but to wait for rescue and face an unknown fate, the group plays a game in which they reveal secrets they would never otherwise share. They soon discover they not only have to survive the accident, but also each other. The moments dwindle and they are forced to ask themselves "how well do you really know your friends" as their game builds to a shocking conclusion."

Anything airing on MTV these days instantly makes me skeptical (yes, I'm old) but Glosserman's talents go a good distance at combating that. Plus the last original horror movie of MTV's that I saw contained a scene where a girl on roller-skates got beheaded and then her headless body rolled into a giant cake made out of sushi, so we're all good. ... this weekend, but the main thought I have every damn time after I see the trailer isn't, "Ooh what's inside the box?" but rather, "Oh my god, Elle Fanning is so lovely to look at." Is that weird? The Sexy Crier Strikes Again

I pointed this out ages ago, but Channing Tatum is good at crying. Alongside his fine physique it's why he can shuttle back and forth between shit like GI Joe and shit like Dear John - he's a big muscly ball of puffy pink eyes. Cue his latest Kleenex-filler The Vow, which now has a trailer. In it he takes off his clothes, cries, and punches Scott Speedman in the face. If only this were a romance between the two of them, dammit.

Goodbye Aunt Sassy

Have any of y'all kept up with Lisa Kudrow's online series Web Therapy? I watched the first batch of episodes right at the start and then promptly, for no reason I can discern (certainly not for a lack of liking what I'd seen) completely forgot about it. And every time I'd remember it was there to watch I'd make myself a mental note to go and catch up and as happens with all my mental notes that immediately fell into the churning dust-bin that is my brain, where nothing ever returns. Sorry, Lisa! Well she didn't need me anyway - Showtime has gone and turned the series into an actual television series! Which apparently starts airing next month? --- My Magneto - I'm trying to decide if I'm going to see X-Men Muppet Babies tonight or tomorrow morning. My excitement for it begs for the closest time-slot manageable, while my aversion to Friday night movie crowds whispers otherwise into my ear. Either way, it will be mine, Fassy and all, within the next 24 hours! Whoop! That film and the next couple weeks of Summer releases are covered in Joe's most recent Movie Preview post over at Low Resolution. Check it.

--- How Hungry Are You - Somehow I never got around to mentioning this, but apparently Lionsgate is considering turning the three-book Hunger Games series into four films, should the first movie be a success. Hrm. Lord knows I love 'em, but I'm not entirely sold on this. But I'm easily won over. (Make the third film nothing but Finnick in his skimpy aquatic costume posing for two hours, and I'm yours!) --- And speaking of Katniss & Co, PopWrap got to chat up Jennifer Lawrence today - it's mostly about her role as Mystique in X-Men Muppet Babies as well as her recently discovered talk-show agility - a girl who can charm Letterman so has a big future in the biz - but there's some Hunger-flavored manna towards the end.

--- More Than Meets The Eye - PopWrap dissects some recent comments by Shia Labeouf on the departure of Megan Fox from the Transformers series, and I feel like I'm the last person standing defending Megan Fox - even Mickey Rourke has jumped ship, as if he's got a leg to stand on - but there does seem to be a somewhat mangled attempt at defending her by Shia, so good on him.

--- His Song - The Film Experience is celebrating Moulin Rouge Week, and while I don't really have much to say about that movie, I can appreciate other's enthusiasms for it. (I've got a love-hate thing with it, personally. I like a lot, but sometimes it just gives me a fucking headache.) Anyway my favorite aspect of it is Ewan, so Nat's Top Ten list of Ewan's greatest performances is right up my alley. Ewan forever.

--- Monkey Business - It's amazing what a surfeit of anticipation the Rise of the Planet for the Apes movie I've got at this point. I realized this morning that I never even got around to watching the first trailer, and now we've got a second one. Nothing against Jimmy Franco of course; should we lay the blame at Tim Burton's feet? (Of course we should.) I guess if nothing else it's giving Andy Serkis a new opportunity to shine, hidden in the shadows. You don't have to hide Andy in the shadows, ya know, world? Sometimes we like to look at him just plenty.

--- Who You Callin Fairy - I feel guilty at this point eleven years later still referring to Mary Harron as "the director of American Psycho," but that is and remains where I fell in love with her work. (I feel no such qualms about illustrating this only tangentially related bit of news with a picture of Christian Bale in that film, because duh.) She went on to make the terrific The Notorious Bettie Page after that, and did a lot of TV work, but it's hard out there for female directors, as y'all well know. Her most recent flick, the girl's boarding school vampire movie The Moth Diaries (with Scott Speedman playing a teacher!) remains in limbo right now, but according to BD there is good news: she's lining up another flick. It's called Wicked Lovely and it's based on a series of books about a girl that gets caught up in some faery netherworld... that happened to me once. With sexy results!

--- And finally, Jared Leto done went and cleaned himself up some for a Huge Boss cologne commercial, so sure, I'll post it. He cleans up well. (via)

He'll hate me for sharing this, but I was sitting on the couch last night, innocently minding my own business, when from across the room and behind his computer my boyfriend announced, "Spike Jonze is so cute." And naturally I agreed, and we took a moment to allow our hearts to flutter. Aww. Adorable.  Spike Jonze is adorable! I'm sure most of y'all caught that cammed version of David Fincher's The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo trailer that leaked the other day - hell I watched it about five times over the weekend. The fact that I can't yet download Trent Reznor and Karen O's cover of Led Zeppelin that adorns it is making JA a very sad boy. --- And speaking of the finer things on True Blood, Alexander Skarsgard has joined the cast of a movie where he will be married to Julianne Moore. I want to watch them make out.

--- No Escape - John Carpenter's The Ward is getting dumped released on VOD on June 8th. It'll then get chucked into a couple of theaters on July 8th. It is supposedly awful. Dammit, John. I'll watch it at some point no doubt, but just dammit.

--- We Need To Talk About We Need To Talk About Kevin - I mention all this in the comments of the post I'm about to link to, but I started reading Lionel Shriver's book We Need To Talk About Kevin last night and the ol' cliche came true - I couldn't put it down! I lay there til my exhausted eyes ached, completely and immediately sucked right in. Shriver's writing is wonderful. Anyway over at The Film Experience Nat's talking about the reviews coming out of Cannes today for the film adaptation with Tilda Swinton, and how he's staying away from those clips that came out earlier this week. Me too!

--- Block Busted - I'll be in Italy when these happen so I'm gonna miss it - and I'm not that unhappy about missing it since I will be in motherfucking Italy - but that "British kids fighting aliens" movie Attack the Block that's got every blogger from here to thither foaming at the mouth over it is screening in 25 cities on May 25th. Find out more at that link. Word is that it won't be out in the US for real until Fall.

--- Hard For Hammer - You can hear a few thoughts from screenwriter Dustin Lance Black on the subject of his latest politically minded movie, J. Edgar, over here. This bit was up my alley:

"Leo knocked it out of the park. He worked incredibly hard, he devoured research quicker than I could produce it, and he’s one of the best actors we have. And I love Armie. He’s a great guy, a real rising star, and he’s not hard to look at either."
