Good Morning, World

.
Hair of the dog with Charlie Hunnam!

(via) These are from The Ledge, that movie he's in with Patrick Wilson where they're both in love with Liv Tyler only Pat is a religious whack-job. The film's On Demand right now, I've been meaning to watch it but haven't gotten the chance. Any y'all done so yet? Lemme know what you thought if so. Is there really nothing flesh-wise from Patrick Wilson in it? Now that's blasphemy.

We Only Hire Charlies

.

I had every intention of creating a picture for this post that had both Charlie Hunnam and Charlie Day in it, since Charlie Day just got a gig in Guillermo Del Toro's next movie Pacific Rim, which already has Hunnam in the lead, and going on to make a joke about them both having the same first name, hardy har, so clever.

But then I stumbled upon the above picture of Charlie Hunnam which I've somehow never seen before and I started to add Charlie Day into it but sorry Charlie (Day), as adorable as you be you were distracting me from all of that, and that is not to be distracted from. Goodness.

Idris Elba Nine Times

.

Idris Alba, who just cut a memorable mini-swath through Thor in a gold gladiator costume and some intense colored contacts, seems to be a little bit on fire right now - not only is he heavily rumored to be picking up the lead in Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained (if the rumors that Will Smith's not taking the role turn out to be true, that is), but now he's apparently up for a part opposite my beloved Charlie Hunnam in Guillermo Del Toro's not-Godzilla movie about giant Godzilla-like monsters, Pacific Rim. Not to mention that he's currently shooting Prometheus, the not-an-Alien prequel, with Michael Fassbender. His specialty is apparently not-a-fill-in-the-blanks. Who knew being the slab-of-man-meat in a Beyonce and Ali Larter sandwich could lead to such lofty heights?

Thumbs Up, Charlie Hunnam!

.

It's a happy day here at Plaid Pants Headquarters, because one of our favorite actors, somebody we've been championing since the moment we laid eyes on him, has finally gotten the sort of big break we've been asking for for years and years. Charlie Hunnam is in talks to star in Guillermo Del Toro's Pacific Rim, the giant monster movie GDT moved on to after everything fell apart with his adaptation of Lovercraft's At the Mountains of Madness (sigh).

Since they are apparently still just in talks, let's keep our fingers crossed that everything stays on path for this one. But I have faith - there's a degree of syncronicity at work here after all. Charlie did get his career started with another well-placed "rim."

Yes, I went there. And I'd like to think that I'm the only place reporting on this news that did. We're making magic here at MNPP. Magic!

I Am Link

.
--- Forget Fassy Not - Continuing his ace game at lining up interesting projects with interesting filmmakers, Michael Fassbender's in talks with Danny Boyle for his next movie. It's called Trances and it's a thriller about an art thief who gets amnesia while being the only one in his gang that knows where they've hidden their prime loot. Hijinks ensue. Sounds like a return to Shallow Grave territory for Boyle, which is very very welcome.

--- Fresh Prince Unchained - Quentin Tarantino wants Will Smith to play the Django in his slavery-centered revenge thriller Django Unchained. I usually tend to like Will Smith in things, but in the wake of him foisting his intolerable children on us these past couple of years that's been tested. Still, Smith would have to be a total lunatic to say no to QT.

--- Jumper - Slash has a batch of new posters, including the one for that "Patrick Wilson and Charlie Hunnam make out a bunch okay whatever they fight, sigh" movie The Ledge, which we saw a trailer from last week.

--- Hot Lips - In a piece for The Awl, Joe Reid managed the incomparable feat of judging the best of the Best Kiss nominees of MTV Movie Awards past from top to bottom. Speaking of, hey there Jake and Heath in Brokeback Mountain!

--- In The Company of Crooks - Old pals Neil Labute and Aaron Eckhart are reteaming for a movie that kind of sounds like Dirty Rotten Scoundrels set in Mexico. God I love Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. Now I need to watch Dirty Rotten Scoundrels right now!

---  The SS Folk Singer - There's a lengthy article/interview with Sufjan Stevens at The Observer worth checking out if you bow before him like I do. Lookin good, Suffy.

I'll Catch You, Charlie Hunnam

.

If you can get past Charlie Hunnam's shaky American accent (come on Charlie, I've heard you do better than that) and the irritating presence of Baby Wipes McGee, then this trailer for The Ledge - starring Charlie as a guy that falls for Liv Tyler who is already married to a scary religious zealot nut-job played by Patrick Wilson - is pretty good. But only if you don't allow those two things to bug you too badly. Pretty easy in the case of the first thing, not as much for the latter.
