I Am Link

.
--- Wax Off - Hey look Stephen Dorff took his top off for a new Immortals poster! Check out the whole thing over at Stale Popcorn. I'm with Glenn - this is great and all but it's basically SACRILEGIOUS that his chest is shaved. Stephen Dorff's chest hair should be granted historical landmark status and anyone who comes within reach of it should be immediately thrown into prison. Do not pass Go!

--- Hi Hos - The names attaching themselves to the cast of dwarfs in Snow White and the Huntsman read like a Who's Who of Kick-Ass Character Actors - Eddie Izzard, Bob Hoskins, Ray Winstone, Toby Jones, Eddie Marsan, Ian McShane, and Stephen Graham just so far! I think they should cast Peter Dinklage next and then shrink everybody else down so he's the biggest one of the lot, is what I think.

--- Ghosts Busted - Looks like James Wan is hoping to double-down with his Insidious success and direct another haunted house movie next - AICN's got the word on The Conjuring, which is based off "true events" in Long Island. Mmmhmm. Just hire Patrick Wilson again and I'll believe anything.

--- Forward To Fall - At TFE Nat's got some whispers coming at him from screenings of My Week With Marilyn and the Madonna-directed W.E. I don't so much care about the latter - although if nothing else Madonna's always been excellent at surrounding herself with talented folks and it's got a pretty great cast, so we'll see - but I'm dying to get a look at My Week With Marilyn and the picture of some of the cast at that link - Williams and Dominic Cooper, specifically! - ramps up my excitement further. (DOM.)

--- Out Foxxed - Quentin Tarantino's worked plenty of miracles in the past so I can't quite force myself to doubt him, but if Jamie Foxx is indeed now cast as the lead in Django Unchained he's making it very very hard for me. Foxx has never been anything less than eye-gougingly annoying to me in the past, so you'll have to work some fucking magic here, QT.

--- Rimming Elba - Meanwhile the dude that would've been a far less terrifying choice for that role is Idris Elba, but he's just officially signed on for Guillermo Del Toro's Pacific Rim opposite the Charlies Hunnam and Day.

--- True Titillation - All the menfolk of True Blood seem to be making their media-rounds with the premiere of the 4th season only a few days away, which translates into "all the men-folk of True Blood be taking their shirts off," hooray! There's Stephen Moyer in Men's Health via JJ, and did I really never post the pictures of Joe Manganiello in GQ? I don't know how that's possible. Anyway click that link for 'em.

--- Jerri Blank Returns! - Yeah I wish. I missed this so bless Jarett's heart for posting the video of Amy Sedaris on Letterman last night. Why must it be so hard to get new Amy? Want more! I can only skim through her books and laugh at the funny pictures of her in nylons so many times! Alright that's a lie they will never stop being funny.

Cary Fukunaga Four Times

.

Has Michelle Williams snagged another hot hipster? She's been seen in public with the sexy Jane Eyre director, beaming like he just proved to her the first three letters of his name is no joke. Damn her! Spike Jonze, Heath Ledger, and now the man who gave the phrase "horse hung Michael Fassbender" new meaning. What a life.

I Am Link

.
--- More New Cappy - I guess some new shooting for Captain America went down in Times Square of all places this weekend. There's talk of the shots being kind of spoilery but it just looks like Chris Evans standing around being hot to me. You can see some here and a few more here. I guess it's who's standing next to him that's considered spoilery but does anyone really care that much?

--- Speaking of, The Avengers starts filming today you guys! I know I'm trying to be skeptical of this thing coming together right - being a Whedon fan is rough going - but it's hard to not be excited all the same.

--- It's about time that they started forcing Garrett Dillahunt to strip down over on that show of his! He is one underrated hunka man. See a couple more at PopWrap.

--- Also over at PopWrap, Jarett got to chat with our "Baby Girl" herself, the lovely Malin Akerman! The Comeback comes up, of course - Jarett would never leave that stone unturned.

--- Which Witch - There's a battle going on between the studio and Sam Raimi over who should play the Wicked Witch of the East in his Oz movie with James Franco - Sam wants Hilary Swank while the studio wants Michelle Williams. And this is the first time in ever that I'm siding with a studio! Michelle!

--- And speaking of Michelle, AICN got to talk to her Meek's Cutoff (and Wendy and Lucy) director, the very talented Kelly Reichardt. I still haven't gotten around to seeing Meek's yet but will be forcing myself to some night this week for sure. You?

--- House Boy - Ryan Phillippe is considering quitting acting and moving to New York. I have a couch with your name on it, sir. I will find plenty of things for you to do other than acting, no worries.

--- Last week Joe and I chatted about Scream 4 via email and you can now eavesdrop upon that conversation over at Low Resolution. It's just like being there! I mean, I was there so I should know.

Nice Trunk, Rob

.

I wasn't all that enamored with the book Water For Elephants, so the movie version coming out today isn't exactly burning up my must-do list for the weekend. Instead I've got a few leftovers from the past couple of weeks - Meek's Cutoff! Your Highness! - that I intend to catch up on. (Yes, even though everybody and their mother's drug dealer soundly rejected Your Highness I still have every intention of going.) I spoke upon these matters over at Celebrity Beehive today, so go read that. What's y'all planning on seeing? I know you're already in line for the new Madea movie, don't front.

From Hanna To Highness

.

One of the lessons I have learned from having to keep better track of what's coming out every weekend now that I write a column about it week in and week out is what an enormous mess of shit that I don't want to see there is constantly coming out weekend after unholy weekend. So much dreckitude! So when a weekend rolls around where there's not just one movie but several that I want to see, well now it feels like something of an event. This weekend there are four movies that I want to see coming out. Four! Head over to Celebrity Beehive to get my thoughts upon them.

Of course wanting to see and actually finding the time to see are two very different things. As I mentioned earlier I'm seeing The Book of Mormon tonight, and then there's Carrie playing at BAM on Sunday... finding time for four movies in between all that in the span of two days will prove a little much. The only one I know I'm seeing for sure is Arthur, which is the one I've probably got the least expectations of (although the brutal reviews for Your Highness have got me second-guessing myself there).

Oh well, there's always next week! It's amazing how front-loaded movie-going feels these days, as if, if I don't take the chance and run to see something the very first minute it's available, then I've lost the chance forever. It took me a couple of weeks but I finally got myself out to see Paul last weekend, even though it'd faded from the national discourse right quick. Miracles can and do happen!

The Moment I Fell For... Michelle Williams

.
"We have a very important school report on turquoise jewelry due in two days, and we can't find any books on it, and the President's having us followed. It's too much pressure!"
